Esprit 2010 will be held in Port Angeles in May. The Cornbury Society is one of the three clubs that helps put on this convention and we have been a part since Esprit’s inception in 1990.

No need to apologize, just glad you could write and let us all know how you are doing. It is so easy to get caught up in the millieu of life that we sometimes forget.

As many of my closest friends in the transgendered community know I have been “working” with a heightened level (thanks Homeland Security) of transition feelings. Esprit this year has brought about a change in direction for me, or shall I say a more defiend direction towards fulltime. A simple question at Esprit has had a huge influence on my life since. The question was “How are you?” Sounds pretty tame at first blush, but at that moment I was apparently very vulnerable. I started to answer the question but I couldn’t follow through with the usual pat answer. I was soon crying, feeling very overwhelmed. Fortunately I am blessed with wonderful friends, in this case, Cat and Elaine.

The dinner guests were sitting around the table discussing life. One man, a CEO, decided to explain the problem with education. He argued, “What’s a kid going to learn from someone who decided his best option in life was to become a teacher?” He reminded the other dinner guests what they say about teachers: “Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.” To stress his point he said to another guest, “You’re a teacher, Bonnie. Be honest. What do you make?”
