Minor appearance changes

The Cornbury site now has a somewhat larger typeface and some other cosmetic changes as well. Don't worry - it's the same site! Hopefully you'll find it a little easier to read.

Open Meetings - how they might work

Since rewriting the poll about open meetings, I've noticed a much greater response. On behalf of the executive who has to deal with these things, thank you. It seems a little more explanation is warranted, however, so people know exactly how this would all work in practice.

First, a bit of terminology. "Cornbury member" means a member in good standing, personally screened by a member of the executive before joining. "Site member" means anyone who has visited the Cornbury site and has been interested enough to create themselves an account. "General public" means pretty much everyone.

Newer, Better, Faster, Smarter. Smaller.

On Friday 25 June, your resident pretty face, a.k.a. geek - or is that geekette? - upgraded the old Cornbury server. If you've visited the site before, you've known and complained about how slow and unresponsive it was. But if you're reading this now, you'll already have noticed the biggest improvement.

SPEED.

The site is now about 15X faster than before, with much faster image display and page delivery. We're also saving about 0.25kWH energy!

How DID she do it, you ask?

who would you like to be ?

July 2010 issue of Vanity Fair reports a poll done through CBS which included the question:

If you could live in a movie for one day, whose life would you want to live ?

The choice of eight included three females;

Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City

Ilsa Lund (Ingrid Bergman's character) in Casablanca

Lara Croft in Tomb raider.

4% of male respondents chose Carrie.

3% of male respondents chose Ilsa

1% of male respondents chose Lara.

That's 8% of males wanting female roles. Pretty good, eh ?

Reflections on Full-Time

As many dear readers will know, I have begun the journey to transition. Well, perhaps it's more like starting on a major leg of that journey; transition for me really began when I came to the realisation (admitted to myself?) that I am indeed transgender. I'm not in this just for the clothes, just for the thrill, just for the excellence of the crossdressing craft, or indeed "just for" anything. I, as many transgenders will understand, am truly Stephanie at my centre.

Is anyone there?

It is most disappointing that this site has so few people responding.

Ann Garvald Blog

Ann Garvald Blog --The Book That Changed My Life

If this was Readers Digest, a title like the one above would almost certainly suggest an article about The Bible. Well, that’s not the case here. Not that I have anything against The Bible, although I do wish that the born-again types who have hijacked the name “Christian” would pay more attention to Christ’s message of love and tolerance in the New Testament and less to a God of vengeance and retribution that they seem to think is the only message in the Old Testament.

New section for Trans Resources

There's a new page for resources specifically for those in or contemplating transition. See "For Trans Folks" under Site Navigation to your left. Contributions, links and suggestions welcome!

March 27th - no event

Good morning everyone;

The executive has been struggling for someime with coming up with ideas for various events. Last month we cancelled an event and so it is for March 27th. It is not for lack of trying to come up with things to do but certainly there has been difficulties in finding new and interesting things for the members to do.
