So you're interested in joining Cornbury - glad to see you here! Here's some info to help you decide if Cornbury is right for you, and if so what type of membership is best.
Expectations
Cornbury is a social and support society for anyone who dresses opposite from their birth gender, as well as for those who support them. It is not intended for admirers (non-dressing people who like crossdressers), nor is it a place for tranny-chasers (people seeking relationships with trans folk) nor for people looking to promote businesses of a non-transgender nature.
Regular membership
Membership is $45 per year, prorated to $22.50 for new members joining between July 1 and October 31. New members joining in November and December pay $45 and the dues are applied through the following year.
Regular membership works best for those who can physically attend meetings. Meetings are held in the Lower Mainland area of British Columbia (e.g. Vancouver, New Westminster, Surrey etc.)., so your travel time and your ability to get out en femme will affect your decision.
Online Only Membership
This category provides full website access and info about meetings, but is designed for those who for reasons of distance cannot attend meetings. The fee is $25 per year. You're expected to be living outside the Lower Mainland, but other criteria that prevent you from physically attending meetings may be considered on request on a case by case basis. The intent is to provide support, without asking you to subsidise the cost of meetings that you can't attend.
Spouses and Partners
Spouses and partners are always welcome at meetings and do not need to apply for membership as long as one person is a regular member in good standing. Spouses of heavily closeted people who do not want to join on their own are welcome to apply as regular members.
Supporters
Supporters are people or groups that have direct and significant involvement and support for the trans community, even though they may not be trans themselves. Commercial businesses with goods or services with direct appeal to trans folk are also invited to apply for supporter membership, but please contact us at iclick_here@cornbury.org first.
Applying for membership
We like to meet one-on-one with all prospective members in order to answer questions and make sure you and Cornbury are a good fit for each other. Online-only members are exempt from this, obviously, but we may contact you by email to accomplish the same end. To request a meeting, please complete our request form here.
